Document production from the back office

If your authority is still using the M3 back office application for some functions, be aware that from ASSURE v1.3 onwards — although at that time the product was known as eNgage — all document production (word processing) is handled though ASSURE; the only exceptions are Land Charges.

This means that whenever a back office user requests a document, the ASSURE Documents screen opens in a web browser on the user's computer. Wherever possible, the Documents screen is automatically populated with the reference numbers, product area, document group, template name, document type and other document properties that are appropriate in the current context.

It follows that every back office user who requires document production must also be an ASSURE user with at least the Authority User role.

Every document created through ASSURE is stored in the NEC Document Management repository, unless the document template specifically says otherwise. Stored documents are available to ASSURE and also the back office systems.

Synchronising back office users

The latest back office clients include the ability to convert existing back office users to ASSURE users, a process known as "synchronising" users. Each back office user must have a valid email address that is not the same as any other existing ASSURE user.

Most users created in this way will need only to access ASSURE functions (such as document production) from the back office. However, if a user needs to log in to ASSURE itself they can use the Forgotten Password? feature of the ASSURE Login screen to acquire an ASSURE password.
