Maintain NCS Master Templates

There is a separate Master Template for each ASSURE product:

• Building Control

• Planning

• Land Charges

• Public Protection

These Master Templates are used as the basis of all new NEC Communications Suite (NCS) templates.

They typically define the basic fonts, paragraph spacing, document margins, fields, and standard boilerplate text and images that are likely to be present in every other template. These defaults can be overridden by a particular template.

Maintaining a Master Template

1. On the System Administration screen, in the General section, click Global Templates.

   The Global Templates screen appears.

2. Click Create / Edit Master Template.

3. Select the required product type and click Continue.

   The Document Editor window opens showing the chosen Master Template.

4. Use the Document Editor to define the content of the template, and the Insert Field plugin to add merge files.

   The plugin lists the generic merge fields followed by any global merge fields.

5. Use the Layout tab on the ribbon to change the page layout — for example by setting the page size and orientation, custom margins, and number of columns.

6. To set headers and footers, go to the Insert tab on the ribbon and click Header/Footer.

   For example, you can make sure the header appears only on the first page.

7. On the File menu, click Save, then close the Document Editor window and return to the Global Templates screen.

8. Click Save Details.
