Maintain streets
You can add, edit and delete Street records in the ASSURE Gazetteer.
Adding a street

On the System Administration screen, under General, click Maintain Streets.
The List of Streets screen appears.

Click Add New Street.
The Add Street screen appears.

On the Street tab, specify the following details.
Add street Field
Description
Street No*
A unique 8-digit street number.
Name*
The street name.
Locality
The village or suburb in which the street is located.
Town
The nearest town.
County
The county name.
Area
The main area (geographic, commercial or departmental) in which the street is located.
* Mandatory fields.

Optionally, on the Areas tab, specify the geographic, commercial and departmental areas in which all or parts of the street are located.
In the Geographic Area section:

Click ✚ Add more to open the Geographic Area dialog.

Specify the following:
Geographic area details Field

Area*
A geographic area.
Type*
Whether all or part of the street is inside the area:
- All Street
- Full Range
- Even Range
- Odd Range
Number From and Number To
The applicable range of building numbers if only a part of the street is included.
* Mandatory fields.

Click OK.
In the Commercial Area section:

Click ✚ Add more to open the Commercial Area dialog.

Specify the following:

Area*
A commercial area.
Type*
Whether all or part of the street is inside the area.
Number From and Number To
The applicable range of building numbers if only a part of the street is included.
* Mandatory fields.

Click OK.
In the Department / Areas section:

Click ✚ Add more to open the Department Area dialog.

Specify the following:
Departmental area details Field
Description
Department*
A department.
Area*
A departmental area.
Type*
Whether all or part of the street is inside the area.
Number From and Number To
The applicable range of building numbers if only a part of the street is included.
* Mandatory fields.

Click OK.

Click Save.
Editing a street

On the System Administration screen, under General, click Maintain Streets.

To find the street, enter its number or a (partial) street name in the box and click Search.

Click the street's Edit button.

Make the required changes.
On the Street tab, if you change the name, locality, town, or county, this also affects any properties or organisations that refer to the street. You cannot change the street number.
On the Areas tab, click Edit to edit an area, or click
Delete and confirm to remove it.

You can use the Previous and Next buttons to navigate between alphabetically adjacent streets.

Click Save.
Deleting a street
You cannot delete a street if it is currently referenced by any property or organisation.

On the System Administration screen, under General, click Maintain Streets.

To find the street, enter its number or a (partial) street name in the box and click Search.

Click the street's
icon and confirm.
Updating geographic and commercial areas in bulk
ASSURE can automatically overwrite each Street record's geographic and commercial areas by looking at each in-area Property or Organisation record that refers to that street and copying the contents of the first non-empty Area field (on the Address tab) and Commercial Area field (on the Property Use tab) that it finds. In each case ASSURE assumes that all of the street is located within the chosen area.

On the System Administration screen, under General, click Street Areas.
The Street Areas screen appears.

Select Populate Street Area from existing data.
If one or more streets already have geographic or commercial areas, you are warned that: This will remove existing Street Areas.

Click Continue.
Optionally, click OK to dismiss the progress bar (the process continues in the background).

Click OK to acknowledge the completion of the process.
Updating departmental areas in bulk
You can map departmental areas to one or more geographic areas, and then ASSURE can examine each Street record for geographical areas and automatically add the corresponding departmental areas if they are not already there. ASSURE assumes that the same part of the street that is in the geographic area is also in the departmental area.

On the System Administration screen, under General, click Street Areas.
The Street Areas screen appears.

Select Create Department / Areas.

Create or edit departmental areas and map them to geographic areas.

Click Update.
Optionally, click OK to dismiss the progress bar (the process continues in the background).

Click OK to acknowledge the completion of the process.
Permissions
To create, edit and delete streets you require the LPG-STREET-ACCESS security key. To update street areas in bulk you need the ADMIN-ACCESS-DATA key.
