Customise the appearance of overlay menus and features
This affects not only a GIS service's menus but (perhaps more importantly) how the features returned by that service appear on the map.
Note
In ASSURE Land & Property, any styles you define are synchronised with, and subsequently sourced from, GeoServer. Synchronisation is automatic, but can be manually triggered if necessary by using the and buttons. In contrast, ASSURE Public Protection applies styles directly, and these buttons are not present.
Editing a service style
To customise the appearance of a GIS service's overlay menus and features, do the following:

On the System Administration screen, click .
The GIS Administration screen appears.

.The Overlay Settings screen appears.

.The Overlay Menu screen appears listing the menu list.

Select the linked parent or child menu that you want to customise.
The Settings tab appears beside the menu list.

Click the Style tab to see the current styling.

Click
.The Edit Service page appears. Any changes you make are instantly shown in the Layer Preview area.

In the Legend Icon Symbol field, select either Generic or Point.
This changes the legend that will appear next to the menu item in the
OVERLAYS panel.

Generic is often used for shape features. It is a small square that has the same styling as those features.

Point is often used for point features. It is a small circle, with an optional icon inside it, that has the same styling as those features.

To adjust the colour and fill of a shape feature, change the following settings:

Stripe Orientation
Fills the shape with coloured stripes:

Horizontal

Diagonal (Left to Right)

Anti-diagonal (Right to Left)
The default setting of None means that the shape has a solid fill.
Shape Colour
The interior colour of the shape or stripes.
Type a hexadecimal colour code, choose a colour name from the list, or use the colour control.
Shape Transparency
The transparency of the shape; 0 means fully transparent, 1 means fully opaque.
Adjust by using the slider.
Stripe Space Colour
For striped shapes, the colour of the spaces between the stripes.
Type a hexadecimal colour code, choose a colour name from the list, or use the colour control.

To adjust the border of a shape feature, change the following settings:

Description
Border Colour
The colour of the border.
Type a hexadecimal colour code, choose a colour name from the list, or use the colour control.
Border Width
The width of the border, between 1 and 5 pixels.
Adjust by using the slider.
Border Style / Line Cap
Whether the border is a solid line or dashed (and the length of each dash).
Adjust by using the slider. In addition, the ends of the dashes in a dashed line may be capped in three ways:

butt (no cap)

round (rounded edge)

square (square edge)

To adjust the appearance of a point feature, change the following settings:

Description
Marker Colour
The colour of the marker.
Select a colour name from the list.
Icon Colour
The colour of the icon inside the marker.
Type a hexadecimal colour code, choose a colour name from the list, or use the colour control.
Icon Class
The icon inside the marker.
Type the first few characters of the icon's name and select it from the list.
If you are not sure which icon you want, or its name, click
to see a list of available icons. -
Click
and confirm.ASSURE Land & Property should automatically synchronise with GeoServer. If not, click to attempt a manual synchronisation.
Tip
When you create a new child menu, it inherits the styling of the parent menu.
Deleting a service style
To delete a custom style, click Style tab.
on theThis restores the default style:

For a shape feature: Solid green fill with a solid red border.

For a point feature: Blue marker with a white circle icon.
Synchronising all ASSURE Land & Property styles with GeoServer
If necessary, you can click
to forcibly resynchronise all styles with GeoServer, replacing all existing styles.
